Reaper Is Returning To Television! Here's some news we didn't expect to be typing, but at least it got us updating the site again for the first time in almost 4 years:
Reaper will be on TV again!!!
FEARnet has picked up the rights to every episode of Reaper, to add to their lineup June 4... but first, they are airing a NEW Reaper reunion set to air on May 28! This reunion got most of the old gang back... Bret Harrison, Ray Wise, Tyler Labine, Rick Gonzalez, Ken Marino, and Christine Willes, as well as show creators Michelle Fazekas and Tara Butters.
For those of you who haven't kept up with us lately, a lot of our web updates have gone up on our general TV site, KSiteTV... and in addition to details about the reunion, we have some exclusive interviews answering some of our still-burning Reaper questions. Want to check it out?
Tyler Labine Confirms Reaper's End; Hints At Comic Book & Possible Animated Series Tyler Labine has confirmed on his Reaper Facebook group that the series is officially done for. However, he did reveal some cool news! Here's what he had to say:
"Just got official word that there is absolutely no chance of Reaper going another year. It has been dropped by all involved. Boooo. But on a brighter note, There is a comic book coming out and there is some serious talk of it being turned into a cartoon. That could be sweeeeet. I would definitely be into doing a voice on that show. So, I guess thats it. I am officially going to be turning this into a Tyler Labine fan page and would be flattered if you all would stay on board with me. I've become quite fond of chatting with all of you. Nice to know you're out there. If not, that's cool too. Thanks for all of your support guys. For real, you've been awesome fans. None better out there. Talk soon. TY."
Bret Harrison & Tyler Labine Talk About Reaper's Future TVGuide.com featured Reaper in their "Mega Buzz" this week, and featured some hints at what could have been for Season 3.
Here is what was said in the Q&A:
I am super upset that Reaper was canceled. The finale was great but totally left us hanging. What's the "greater good"? Is there any chance we can get some answers or a continuing story in maybe a comic book? If not, any word on where the writers were planning on going in Season 3? — Gerald TIM: Reaper star Bret Harrison tells us he saw hints in the finale that Andi (played by Missy Peregrym) "was going to probably be a reaper in the next season." The story will survive as a comic book, but don't put your faith in talk of the show surviving in syndication: "[That] is a no-go," says Tyler Labine, aka Sock. "It's not officially, officially dead, but as far as everyone is concerned, it's over." As for whether Bret and Tyler would be interested in a Reaper movie, look for our full-length interview soon.
Reaper: It's Over. "Nick C" as well as others have reported that more than one actor has been released from their Reaper contracts (therefore, allowing them to move on) which has "sealed the deal" on what we had all feared - the show is over.
For a while it seemed like there was still possibility for a syndicated Season 3, but now, without at least two of the lead actors, it seems it's the end. At one point, it is said it had even been considered to continue Reaper with a new actor playing Sam (not Bret Harrison) alongside Ray Wise's Devil.
Some very dedicated folks (hi, Blue Sunflower!) are still hoping to convince the right people to continue the show. "Nick C" makes it sound as though it's a no-go for this season, but who knows what could happen in the future. (Hey, Charles in Charge took two years to be revived!).
Should the show continue, of course, you'll find news and updates here. But if it's over... it's been a fun ride.
Reaper's Survival: Have We Been Led On? Insider "Nick C," who along with Jenny Wade on Twitter broke the news that Reaper may be going to cable for Season 3, is now saying that some actors have been let out of their contracts and that affiliates being told the show has been sold to cable may be "a lie."
Hopefully all of us who are hoping for a third season aren't clinging to a false hope. Unlike some other recently-canceled shows, Reaper is affordable to produce, and could really thrive somewhere that cares about more than just women ages 12-34. Stay tuned... let's hope someone makes an official decision shortly. Today would have been nice.

Reaper Lives? Some more updates regarding the possibility of a third season of Reaper...
Insider "Nick C." is saying that Reaper may be going to cable for Season 3 (possibly SciFi/SyFy, but not Spike TV), but the most telling might be Jenny Wade, who says on her Twitter account "we'll know by the end of the day."
UPDATED: It's now sounding like there could be an official announcement tomorrow. Stay tuned!
ANOTHER UPDATE (7PM PT): Apparently the cable channel that is interested in Reaper is NOT SciFi.

Reaper Season Finale Ratings
Reaper performed fairly well with its last CW Network episode (coincidentally its only that was NOT up against American Idol). Let's hope the performance is good enough to get picked up for syndication!
The season finale of Reaper also beat ABC's miniseries Diamonds in the key 18-49 demographics.

Talk About The Reaper Season (And Hopefully Not Series) Finale! "The Devil and Sam Oliver!" What did you think of the Season 2 finale of Reaper?
Jenny Wade Wants More Reaper Jenny Wade (Nina) is the latest to call for a third season of Reaper Season 3.
Apparently a big help in getting more is to get Tribune-owned CW stations to sign up for more Reaper.
Here's what Jenny had to say in an open letter to fans:
I’ve been hearing talk that the Tribune may have something to do with saving “Reaper” from the undeserved condemnation to the proverbial TV graveyard by pairing it with LOTS. This news is beyond exciting.
As a cast member I can tell you that we are all on board with you and fully supportive of this venture. We love our show and believe it has all the potential in the world to make a serious impact for whomever decides to champion it!
The show has an incredibly dedicated fanbase, as shown by the series astronomical DVD sales and diligence in scoring admirable ratings against juggernaut American Idol two seasons running!
Seeing this series thrive, as it is meant to, and WILL DO, is something I, and it’s legions of fans, anticipate highly!
Sincerely,
Jenny Wade
“Demon Nina” Reaper, Season 2 cast member
Blogger "Nick C," on the other hand, is claiming that ABC Studios also needs to know there's interest, and that some affiliates have not even been approached by Reaper's production studio. You can e-mail ABC Studios here. Be polite - a little courtesy goes a long way!

Reaper Status Update Here's the latest on the Reaper Season 3 situation:
Unfortunately, The CW has released their 2009-2010 schedules, and Reaper is not on it, despite there being a perfectly good Friday at 9PM timeslot that they are instead giving to a crappy Top Model repeat.
The Hollywood Reporter states that Reaper's producers are in talks with CW affiliates about the idea of showing Reaper on Sunday nights next season. If you'd like to see this happen, e-mail your local CW affiliate and tell them you would definitely like this. Apparently some affiliates are very interested.
A third-season pickup for Reaper could cause trouble for Tyler Labine's new series, as his contract has Reaper in a first position, though hopefully, if the show were to be picked up for more, he could do both. The show would not be the same without Sock.
Just remember, above all else, THE SHOW IS NOT DEAD YET! There's still a new episode left to air on Tuesday, and hopefully this syndication thing will work out so we get another year.

Reaper May Live To See A Third Season! Good news and bad news:
The bad news is that Tyler Labine (Sock)'s new TV series, Sons of Tuscon, has been picked up as a series by FOX for this Fall. This could put his Reaper future in jeopardy.
The good news? Reaper might be getting a longer stay of existence, in syndication or cable!
They're both long shots, but one scenario has ABC Studios in talks with CW affiliates about continuing Reaper as a syndicated series for Sunday nights, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
According to the report, the network started preliminary talks with ABC Studios around the time they decided to give Sunday nights back to affiliates this Fall.
Another possible scenario for ABC Studios to explore is to see if Reaper could move to a cable network.
Right now, it is unknown if Tyler Labine's "second position" status on Tuscon would allow him to stay with a continued Reaper.
Stay tuned for more details as they become available. With another chance, perhaps Reaper would get the respect it deserves!

The CW's Official Description For The Season Finale: "The Devil and Sam Oliver!" The CW has released an official description for the May 26 Season 2 finale episode of Reaper. Hopefully this isn't the final episode ever!
The Hollywood Reporter: "Reaper Is Gone?" An article posted on the website of the Hollywood Reporter claims that Reaper might not be around next season.
Although a source is not named, they seemed to speak of Reaper's future quite definitively:
"Over at the CW, "Reaper" is gone, while the prospects for "Privileged" have improved, and the show is now considered for a possible midseason order," the trade paper says.
Reaper Season 2 DVD Delayed A Week; Still Available To Pre-Order, Though! TVShowsOnDVD.com is reporting that the DVD set for the second season of Reaper, now available to pre-order, will now be released on June 9 rather than June 2 as originally announced.
Reaper Ratings For April 7
Reaper and 90210 just are no match for the FOX line-up of American Idol and Fringe. Although it is worth noting that yet again Reaper had more viewers than 90210 did (2.13 million for 90210).

Images From "No Reaper Left Behind!" The CW has released several images from what will most likely be the April 27th episode of Reaper (we say "most likely" because some of the episode air date orders have changed around).
Butters & Fazekas Sign New Studio Deal; Reaper's Fate Sealed? Reaper's executive producers Tara Butters and Michelle Fazekas have signed a deal to work with 20th Century Fox Television, in a deal that the Hollywood Reporter claims "effectively seals the fate of their bubble CW series," as it calls for them to leave the show.
In addition to Butters & Fazekas leaving, Tyler Labine has already signed on for a new pilot, even though Reaper is still his first priority should it get picked up for a third season. as it calls for them to leave "Reaper," produced by ABC Studios, where the two had been based.
Thanks to Blue Sunflower at the Reaper DMV for the tip. (The associated link also details some of their efforts to get The CW to promote more Reaper. Although it's general site network/ReaperSite policy not to get involved with campaigns, it would never hurt to send some letters or e-mails).

Reaper Gets Its Ratings Back!
Reaperis back over 2 million for the second week in a row, and even outperformed its Tuesday night companion, 90210, last night.
Despite 90210 getting a whole lot better in quality from where it started, it's interesting to note that 90210 is getting a spin-off, yet, a third season of Reaper is unlikely. Where is the justice in that?!?!

It is said that the project is "second position to Reaper;" which means, if Reaper is picked up for a third season, it would take precedence over this new project. But the idea that Labine is even doing a new project may not bode well for the show's future...

Reaper Season 2 Promotion From The CW!
The CW Network has created some key art to promote the upcoming second season of Reaper. Thanks to Jana, we have it to share with you!
Update From Tyler Labine On Season 2... Tyler Labine (Sock) just posted the following update to the Reaper Facebook page:
"Okay. Wowee. We just finished shooting season 2. I personally think we've out done ourselves. There are some of the funniest things I've ever put on film in my entire career in this season. I am very proud of our lil' engine that could show over here. Looks like you've all clued in to the premiere date by now so all thats left to do is tell every single person you know to watch. We are on the "buuble" for a season 3 already so viewers are what we need. I was talking to Tara Butters at our wrap party the other night and she told me that we have a better chance of getting picked up for season 3 than we did for season 2. Good news. She probably didn't want me to tell everyone that but I can''t help it. There was also a rep from ABC studios there who was emphatic about how much they love what they've seen this year. It's all good shtuff. Anyways, all that aside, I'm just glad we have a new season to share with all of you. I'm pretty sure Reaper fans are the best fans out there, so, Thanks for everything guys and gals. I'll be in touch more frequently now as I unemployed for the time being. Ahhhh sweet unemployment. Finally, Some New News: Reaper Season 2 Premieres March 3, 2009!
So what if it's TEN MONTHS after the last new episode aired... The CW has announced that Reaper will be returning to the network with new episodes on March 17, 2009. It will fill the Tuesday-night-at-9 timeslot and will likely follow 90210.
Ideally, the network will run all 13 episodes of Season Three back-to-back. We're just happy because at the rate The CW was going, we were wondering if it was EVER going to air.
Thanks to everyone who e-mailed this news, especially cKo and our friends at the Reaper DMV.
